
Wooden bridge in Netherlands by OAK Architects

Bridge € 3,500,000 on duty after the design competition 2005, and designed by Oak Architects (Achterbosch Architectuur and collaboration between architects ONIX) and built by German company Schaffitzel Holzindustrie. Anning 105 feet and increased more than 50 feet in the air, the structure will serve as a major entrance to the city of Sneek. The bridge is situated in Sneek in the Netherlands, is the world’s first wooden bridge that can support the heaviest load of 60 tons class. An official opening ceremony and celebration is planned for April 15, 2009. On Saturday 29 November, a successful transportation and installation of the traffic bridge in the world’s first heavy street made of wood Accoya occur.
